I’m sitting in the airport in Philadelphia, on my way to a film shoot at Wayumi, NTM’s missions retreat for church groups & college students.
We’re going to meet some guys from Nashville there who are doing the video work for us, also bringing along a photographer for promo stills. The seniors from Jackson are there now, so it will be fun to meet some of my dad’s students. Please pray for our 2-day shoot, for unity, creativity, and stamina. I’m starting off on 4 hours of sleep…
In trying to set my alarm last night at 12:25am, I pressed a whole bunch of buttons and thought I had it set to 5am. At 5am, instead of the usual beep, beep, beeping, God awakened my spirit with the most amazing praise song. “Lead me to Your heart… (with an amazing vocal riff!!)..Lead me to the cross where Your love poured out. Bring me to my knees, Lord, I lay me down…
This song fits so perfectly with what God has been showing me lately…that Christian life is all about relationship and about His heart and how he wants mine. The Sacred Romance was an incredible, refreshing reminder of God’s love for me. The end of the book hits it right on that the Christian life is about resting & abiding in Christ, not performace. This goes right along with a small group I’m in that’s reading Abide in Christ by Andrew Murray.
The challenge for me is living out every day what I “know”. But the good news is that abiding is not something for the spiritually mature – it’s for the weak. “The abiding life” is not something we need to strive to attain. It’s by faith. Andrew Murray exhorts us to tell God, “Lord, I abide in you.” This song was an amazing touch of God’s hand on the weekend to come, a thrilling way to start the day before the “I haven’t had enough sleep sick feeling” kicked in about one minute later…=)
When I get back from Wayumi, I’ve got 15 stories to edit for next month’s radio broadcast. Pray that I will get those done and dynamically communicate the story. Editing PSA’s went really well last month, and my editing time went from 4 hours to 2 hours for one PSA. PTL!
Also, I just found out that I’ll be visiting David Nixon Productions next week with Macon. (These are the guys that did Facing the Giants & Fireproof.) I’m so excited to meet & connect with these guys. Please pray for a productive meeting. I would also love the chance to spend time with some of their editors.
Thanks for your prayers for the ministry here, which is a part of discipling tribal people to follow Jesus. Look at the credits on a big movie – it takes so much teamwork and every part is important. It’s the same way in the body of Christ, building His church together. I covet your prayers.
Time to board…
