PRAYER: PNG trip; NJ trip; Siar people

April 27, 2011 by Regina Rodman

I have a couple prayer requests to share with you all.

#1 Macon goes to Papua New Guinea

#2 Regina goes to New Jersey

#3 Screenwriting class

#4 Siar tribe: Test Run with Toiya

#1 Macon goes to Papua New Guinea

Macon (my boss) and Dale (photographer) are on a trip in Papua New Guinea,
taking photos and doing some video interviews.  Please pray that they will
get great stories, photo and video that we can use. (Dale took the photo
above, of a woman reading in the Siawi tribe.)

#2 Regina goes to New Jersey

I’ll be visiting family and supporters this weekend in New Jersey.  Please
pray that I can be a blessing and be encouraged by the visit.  I am looking
forward to connecting with the women there.

#3 Screenwriting class
I’m planning to take a class on writing a short screenplay this fall at UCF, but the class I want to take is full.  Please pray that a seat will open up or that God will direct me to another class.  The purpose is for on-going education.

#4 Siar tribe: Test Run with Toiya

After hearing the first evangelistic lesson, Toiya was unusually quiet.
That lesson asks a lot of questions about worldview and life to get him
thinking, and Toiya said he really didn’t know the answers. He said the
lesson was really clear, and he had never heard anything about God before
that was clear.  After the other 3 lessons, Toiya was talking with he friend
Sali and really thinking about things.   He said, “I don’t want to be a man
of fear.” He expressed a desire to know the truth so he does not have to be
afraid anymore.  The missionaries were stoked. Lane Sanford wrote: “We saw
God’s word doing its work.  It was amazing to experience.”

The missionaries are going to meet with Toiya one on one to go through the
70 lessons before the formal teaching in the village begins this July.
Things like creation, sin, substitution, the nation of Israel, sheep and
other Bible characters are totally new concepts for most tribal people.  It
takes  time to explain, just like someone who learns algebra starts by
learning numbers, adding, subtracting and fractions.

Please pray for Toiya and the other Siar people as they begin learning about
God and studying His word for the next several months.

Thank you for your partnership and support!
