Podcast Mania

March 17, 2014 by Regina Rodman

This March I was able to “attend” a free 3-day training about podcasting.  (Ok, some of it I watched Friday night at midnight on the rebroadcast!) I was able to listen to the seminar in-between working on audio for the aviation project.

One of my dreams is having a missionary podcast, though I don’t see it becoming a reality anytime soon.  I thought this would cover a bit more about interview and structure of your program, but it covered pretty much everything else.

This training was valuable as it covered many different aspects of marketing and business, related to the podcast, but which could be applied to other types of things we do here at communications.

Kris Gilbertson did a great job teaching the live and online audience, as well as interviewing guest podcasters.

They had a special section on SEO for video podcasts, which has useful tips for promoting the videos we do now.

It talked about how to use the media to engage your customers and build community. Understanding your listener, structuring your title, keywords, intro, and call to action.  Podcast distribution and reviews in itunes, and more.

Just a lot of great basic stuff, with a holistic overview of how a podcast can help grow your business. And it’s just fun too.
