Dear Family & Friends,
In a particular African people group, your host will likely ask you, “Have you taken a shower yet?” If you respond with, “I am not taking a shower now,” they will leave you be. But if you respond with “I haven’t taken a shower yet,” they will heat up a bucket of water and bring it to you so you can take a shower.
The difficulty is that those two responses sound almost the same in the language – with different tones. If you say the wrong one, it affects what you’ll be doing next!
Learning these nuances and building relationships takes time. Your partnership helps missionaries step out of our normal world to learn a language and culture which becomes their “new normal”. Your partnership keeps the computer technology going in the background to process financial gifts, receive email direction from leaders, and manage medical insurance – so that missionaries can focus on church planting. God enables them to learn not only the proper greetings but also apply that knowledge to communicate the message of the Bible clearly.
Thanks
We are thankful for God’s provision of a new home, with enough space to host Scott’s parents when they pass through town, and a close distance to Regina’s parents. We appreciate the time with family. We are thankful also for the encouraging time this year spent with partners in Michigan and Indiana.
Prayer
Please pray for God’s direction in all the details of ministry for 2022.
Partners with you
For the unreached
