- day 7 skin irritation
What is a picture of an ankle doing in this article? Although it might not seem so this was a great spiritual lesson for me.
Several days before this picture there was a small, and a little tender, spot on my foot – just under my ankle bone. Seemed like it wasn’t that big of a deal. It bothered me but I figured I could make the best of it until it just went away. Surely it didn’t require that much attention, it is just a little sore spot. Six days later it was bigger and more sore, This thing was still growing in size and would end up covering more than 30% of my foot before it began ebbing away – five days later!.
That reminded me of how I sometimes deal with little issues in my life that keep me from walking closely with the Lord. It’s just a little irritating. Surely it won’t need that much attention, it will sort itself out.
The next thing I know I am reminded by the Lord about how that little thing has gotten MUCH bigger. My heart is grateful for the gracious chastisement of our Father. His love and mercy are so great and immeasurable. He knows exactly what correction will speak directly to me!
If it weren’t for the deep affection of the LORD, I would continue, unaided and unabated in my wandering from closeness to Him. He works incredibly hard to make sure I know He desires me to remain close and in fellowship with Him. He has made the way for my restoration, too!
In 1 John 1:9, the believers (whom John dearly loves) are reminded of the love and care of God in their lives. John proclaims to this “multi-aged’ group of children, agreement with God about our wrongs(sinful behavior) against His character manifests the repentant mind and heart. In their agreement (from the idea to confess), they acknowledge our sinful thinking attitudes, and even actions if necessary. They confess His Son’s worthiness alone, on their behalf. He sees them “under the blood”. He acts the only way He can, faithfully and justly – remembering they have been forgiven because of Christ, His Beloved Son – which cleanses them from ALL sin. God allows them to be thankful for His love and sacrifice.
Of course, like Romans 15:4 says, “Everything that was written before was written for our instruction…”
So I can see how this applies directly to me and God’s hand in my own life. I am free to admit the sin in my life knowing He is faithful and just to forgive me and cleanse. I can worship Him and revere Him. God is AWESOME and there is NO OTHER EQUAL.
Isn’t this just like our Father. All this from a skin irritation. OH how LOVES you and me!!
