Wayumi – Our Spring Break

June 5, 2013 by Ron and Carrie Lindsey

Dear Friends,

With NTBI graduation just around the corner we wanted to give you a quick update on our spring break.
We went to Wayumi with about 60 NTBI college students and staff families, in Jersey Shore, PA. Wayumi, is a word that means “to go to the jungle”. It is taken from the Yanomamo language of South America.
Wayumi is an intensive week long New Tribes Mission course geared specifically to inform students and church groups about reaching unreached people groups with the gospel.
For the past five years NTBI has been taking groups of students to Wayumi to experience a “tribal” adventure where they learn many aspects of what the job entails in reaching people for Christ.
They learn the Biblical basis for missions, language and culture acquisition, animism, translation, and relationship basics along with teamwork. It is a program that compliments what they are being taught here at NTBI. The course is designed to encourage everyone to be involved in missions and it is a highlight of our spring semester!

Thank you for your prayers and financial giving for us as together we challenge people with the task of reaching the world.
Thank you!

Analyzing the data gathered in the “village.”
Preparing a Papua New Guinea “mumu” for dinner. Yum!
