Please rejoice with Carrie and I as we are headed back to Papua New Guinea, during August, for the dedication of the Siawi Bible translation!
It was 28 years ago that our missionary team located in the Siawi village with the goal of telling them of Christ, establishing a mature church and completing a translation of the New Testament into their language. Although the translation has been done for a number of months the printing has only now been completed and it is time to take the Bibles to the tribe. This will be a GREAT time of celebrating God’s Word and His Glory!
Over these years, God has been good to transform the hearts and minds of the Siawi tribal people from spiritual darkness to perfect light. In 1992 the Siawi people heard the Gospel for the first time and a church was born. While the church grew spiritually, Linda Krieg, (the translator) undertook the long and arduous task of translating the New Testament along with some Old Testament portions. For a mature church to grow and thrive the written Word is needed for deep spiritual growth, encouragement, and to combat spiritual oppression and persecution. How grateful we are to God for allowing Linda and the translation helpers to see the job completed.
The Siawi still live deep within the jungle with little to no outside contact yet God is with them there. We praise God that they now have a mature and fully functioning indigenous church, the Bible in their own language, elders and deacons serving their local church, and native missionaries who are reaching out to the surrounding people groups with the Gospel of Christ!
You have partnered with us for many years through your prayers, financial giving, and encouragement. On behalf of the Siawi people we say a huge Thank You! The Siawi’s have been effectually evangelized, discipled, and are now multiplying through evangelization.
