To the finish

Recognizing the Lord’s leading in our lives is not something that I am always naturally attuned to.  There are the big things in my life that He has asked me to do and those are sometimes the easier ones.  It is however the daily dependence on Him and listening that I often miss. 

There are only a handful of times in my life where I could say that without a doubt, the Lord has spoken to me telling me to do something specific.  There are of course those day by day, minute by minute promptings of the Spirit in me.   But that is not what I am referring to.  What I am talking about though is those times where I clearly have heard the Lord.  

The Lord speaks to us in a lot of different ways.  I love that we get to spend our lives being amazed at all the times and different ways that He seeks us out to communicate with us.  What I am learning is this.  Whether or not I know the Lord is communicating  or whether it is just my thoughts I have decided not to let those get me hung up.  I choose however to do that which I know he has told me and then through that experience learn better to hear him.

One of those things is finishing up my final year at Multnomah Bible College.  When I was 18 years old I was desperately seeking to Lord to find out what He wanted for my life.  Clear as day I remember him saying I want to use you for my kingdom and I want you to go to Multnomah to get trained.  I went for 2 yrs and then left for a while.  I went for 1 yr and then left again.  Now we are planning to head overseas in a year and I still have not finished.  I know the Lord told me to go to Multnomah, I also know that He hasn’t told me to stop going.  Though this next year of preparation is busy and intense, I recognize that my first responsibility is to respond to my Father, and that is why I am going to finish up my final year at Multnomah Bible College.

I don’t herald myself as anything great but I know that He wants to do great things through us.  Learn this lesson with me.  Respond to what you know the Lord is leading you to do.  It’s the greatest thing we could ever doas His kids.
