We wanted to share something with you that we received this morning from a team that, for the first time ever, is teaching the whole story of redemption, from Genesis through Christ’s sacrifice and resurrection, to the Iski people of Papua New Guinea.
“After hearing the story of Abraham and Isaac on Mt Moriah, one of the men listening [said]: “I am just like Isaac with my hands and feet bound with sin and waiting to be killed!” And then they heard of the Passover! “ It’s really amazing to see the people ‘connecting the dots’ and coming to the same conclusion over and over again- they are unable to do anything to escape death and save themselves!
“Please pray for wisdom and discernment for our team as we have daily conversations with people here. Pray for us to be able to address underlying thoughts and misconceptions.”
Wouldn’t it be great to have an unbelieving friend here in the States come to such a clear understanding of the meaning of the sacrifice of Isaac and its implications for him or her?
Doesn’t it move your heart to see the Holy Spirit doing His work of conviction of sin, leading people to faith in Christ as their Rescuer and Redeemer?
If you would like to follow the progress of presenting the story of redemption to the Iski, you can CLICK HERE to read the Callahans’ blog. They keep it very current because they really want prayer support.
Our goal as cross-cultural church planters is to share God’s truth in the tribal language and cultural context so that it communicates the life-saving truth clearly to the heart and mind. It’s not an easy or quick method, but we are confident that it is the way to lay firm foundations and establish mature churches which will not only multiply but also reach beyond the limits of their own language group.
The materials used by the Iski church-planting team are those which our team makes available in Spanish to Latin American pioneer missionaries. You help make that possible by teaming up with us in prayer and giving. Thank you so much for your partnership!
In Christ and for His Kingdom,
Steve & Eida Irwin
P.S. Please also pray for Eida’s 95-year-old dad, Al Granados, who is having a pacemaker implanted today. He lives in a nursing home and is recovering from an infection that spread to his bloodstream and weakened his heart.
