From There to Here

June 7, 2023 by Summer Zimmer

I made it home a month and a half ago and feel like I’ve been on the go ever since! I am absorbing all the good things of being with people here and enjoying the activities like biking and swimming that I can’t do there.

It’s all been a blessing. And very very full.

As you Help Us By Your Prayers

“He has delivered us from such a deadly peril, and he will deliver us again. On him we have set our hope that he will continue to deliver us, as you help us by your prayers. Then many will give thanks on our behalf for the gracious favor granted us in answer to the prayers of many.”  2 Corinthians 1:10-11

Answered prayer is an opportunity to rejoice together about what God is doing. A year and a half ago, I sent out a prayer card and invited you to pray for New Tribes Mission in Papua New Guinea in three different areas, and I wanted to share with you now how those prayers were answered. . .

1.  I asked you to pray for the missionary families in the Tanguat, Anem, Konomala and Uriay people groups, that they would be able to persevere in learning the heart language, the tribal language, of the people in their tribal locations. The men, and sometimes the women as well, have been able to learn and test as proficient in the language and culture of the people in those tribal groups. This means that they can move forward with literacy and then teaching through the Bible in their heart language.

2. I asked you to pray for the team in the Maliyali people group as they prepared to teach through the Bible chronologically for the first time. And there is now a body of new believers in Maliyali growing in their faith.

3. I asked you to pray for the Ata Church and their desire to support a young church in a neighboring people group, Mamusi. And now, we have two missionary families moving into Mamusi who will learn the culture and language of the Mamusi people and then translate the Bible and disciple the already existing church, helping them grow to a greater level of maturity in Christ.

Thank you for your prayers for me and for the mission field of Papua New Guinea!

You can see the original prayer requests here.
