When was the last time you helped someone’s dream come true? Or were told by a neighbor and friend, “It’s what I always wanted, but I had no idea how I’d ever get one?” I guess one of the perks of being a missionary is that you can do some pretty amazing things, things that are simple for you and yet make the dreams of others come true.
How did I make her dream come true? She gave me 60 cents one time when I went to the city, and I bought her these used fan parts. “It’s what I’ve always wanted!” she gushed as I showed them to her. “What for?” you may ask. Here, in March and April, the ladies go the local lakes and rivers to go fishing. And when they get home, if they have these, they can put them over their open fires and roast their fish (with the one on top working to dissuade the goats and dogs and such from eating them as they’re roasting). If they don’t have them, they try to make do with other things, but often the holes are then so big that the fish fall through – not so good!
Gee, if all of us could have our dreams come true that easily!
I tried to guess what the fan parts would be used for…..I was way off. So thankful you can make someone’s day!
