Rachida and her mom (and little brother) returned from the capital of a neighboring country late last week, and on Monday I was able to go and visit them. Even though hereditary retinoblastoma is a nasty disease and apart from the grace of God (hence the need for continued prayers!) she’ll never be completely out of the water, it was good to see her looking happy and healthy. Yes, both of her eyes have been removed, and she has fake eyes now. They look really nice, and her mom said that she thinks that Rachida’s friends don’t even know that they’re not real. Rachida’s mom does, though, since every morning she has to take them out, wash them, and put them back in. What a strong woman!
Her treatment is now done, though she’ll be seeing a doctor here in My Country from time to time just to monitor the situation.
Thanks for your continued prayers, and for being with us on this journey!
(In the pictures you can see (though I don’t know what order they’ll show up in): a happy Rachida; Rachida with her fake eyes; Rachida with her friends; Rachida with me, her mom, and her grandma)

Since she’s so little, she doesn’t go very far yet. She can mainly manage around the house, and people look out for her. Her mom is with her almost constantly, and when her friends came over they just stayed in the yard. But she is managing amazingly well, and her other senses must be growing stronger to make up for it. As she gets older, she’ll probably attend a blind school in the city, which should help as well!

What a sweetheart, so thankful for her smiles. I too wonder the same thing as Sunshine, is she managing as well as possible?
Prayers continue for all!

How does Rachida maneuver through the village. Do her friends help her?
