On Friday, I sent out an e-mail update, and one of the prayer requests was for rain so that it would cool down around here. (If you’d like to receive my updates by e-mail and don’t yet, let me know and I’ll sign you up.) You must have prayed, since on Saturday morning a good rain came for three hours! So lovely. And even though it got hot and sticky that day after that, it has cooled down at night the last two nights, and overall it is much cooler. Besides looking at my thermometer (that now spends some time under 90!), here’s how I know it’s cooler:
– On Sunday morning when I got a spoonful of Skippy peanut butter (bought in Egypt) to eat, I didn’t have to worry about it dripping off the sides of the spoon like an ice cream cone!
– After my shower Saturday night, I actually towel-dried off! Lately I haven’t bothered, since it’s been nice to be as wet as I can to try to get some evaporation going under the fan to cool off.
– On Sunday morning, as I was getting ready for church, I unbraided my hair (it’s too hot to leave it down at night), and was able to leave it down for a few minutes before doing it up again. And I didn’t even sweat during those few minutes!
– My waterbed has cooled off, so it actually (sometimes) feels cools when I sleep on it again!
– The walls weren’t nearly as hot, and parts of the tile floor felt cool as well!
Ah, I love when it’s under 90 in my bedroom. So lovely. Thanks for your prayers, and thanks, God, for the rain.
