Moved in July 2008

July 21, 2008 by

Theo taught a missions theme song for the week at Bible Camp.

Hi prayer partners,
We did not move, but Dad Peterson did. He is now in a State Veterans’ Home in Huntsville, AL – about 1 hour west of us. He does not understand his limitations and dementia, so he often asks if he can "go home now". That, of course, makes it hard on Mom Peterson (and us) who would love to bring him home, but he really needs 24-hour supervision, and besides, our home is not wheelchair-friendly. Mom P is also needing more and more help with daily living (she lives with us, now) but she still gets around with her cane.
I was rewarded for my week at the Ponderosa Bible Camp by a pie in the face, by popular vote from the "honors" cabin. We had a great time. The kids seemed to enjoy the emphasis on doing missions through telling Bible stories – telling them in the order they happened historically, to better see why the Lamb of God is the Answer to our separation from God. Next month, August 6th, I will be sharing again at an Awana assembly at another local church.
I continue to plug away at developing material for the 2-week missions trip program that NTMC is wanting to start. One "study" I am putting together is a comprehensive PowerPoint (and teachers’ notes) on Animism – the worldview of most unreached tribal peope groups. On a more personal side, I am also compiling pertinent information for our family ministry web page, on the NTM site – look for it soon!
One of our co-worker couples from Cote d’Ivoire, Verne & Denny Johnson (now serving at our Mission training center in Missouri), have returned to their former village location for the summer to do literacy training in the Palaka tribal language, and to help strengthen the fledgling church which has split since all resident missionaries left in 2004.
See this month’s Prayer & Praise items on the Link at the left.

Gladly part of His team,
