First base in February 2011

February 6, 2011 by Theo and Martha Enns

No, we haven’t died on first base; we’re still safe on first; and ready to run for second.

(Aren’t you glad the Coach knows if the fly ball will be caught, and when it is safe to run to second?!!)

Kindergarten kids in Haiti Our meeting with the NTM leaders and Baptist Haiti Mission workers on Jan.14th went very well. We look forward to helping the BHM set up a Bible curriculum for their 330 primary schools in northern Haiti, using the Firm Foundation materials NTM is developing for home schooling. I will be preparing a version of these Bible lessons that will be translation-friendly for non-western cultures during this coming year. It would be advantageous to be actually living in Sanford, Florida for this phase, to have closer input from the NTM Field Ministries personnel there – once our house sells, to free us to move. The Baptist Haiti Mission invited us to live at their mission center in Fermathe, Haiti for the following two years (2012-2013) while we see this Bible curriculum translated into French.

So this analogy of being a baseball runner on first base is what the Lord is using to encourage us to wait for His signal to move to Sanford, “second base”. One of the fringe benefits we look forward to in Sanford is being close to my Mom, who lives in a duplex at the NTM Retirement Homes there. She just turned 80 last month, and still enjoys basic good health.

PRAY:

1- for our house to sell soon, so we can move to Florida for our new ministry at New Tribes Mission’s Field Ministries Office.

2- for the development of the Firm Foundation Children’s School Curriculum, which will then be able to be translated for non-western cultures.

3- for our ministry support to increase, to free us to work full-time on this on-going project.

 PRAISE:

1- for my part-time evening job as a janitor substitute at the local public school for a few weeks, as we wait.

2- for the good meeting last month between NTM and the Baptist Haiti Mission on this FFCSC project.

3- for the joy of being His children, and the privilege to be His servants, and part of a team working on a needy project for Haiti.

 Waiting for His signals,

Theo & Martha Enns
