Two weeks into our road trip and everything is going great! This last week has looked a little different for us… in a very good way. 🙂 Since Tom and I were going to be here in Florida for a bit, my parents decided to take the opportunity for our family to go on a much needed vacation down here in Florida, since it had been thirteen years since our last one. With our departure to the south pacific coming up so soon and my siblings off for Christmas break, this was going to be our last opportunity for a family excursion. So, my family flew down here to Florida and the family vacation started with a three day cruise to the Bahamas. It was an amazing and unforgettable experience. Of course, Tom’s favorite part of the cruise was the buffet! After the cruise we all felt like we are still on the ship and have “sea legs.” Thankfully this dizzy feeling is starting to pass now.
After the Cruise, sadly, the family was lessened by one when my sister Chrissy had to fly back to MI early to start school again. The rest of us vacationed on for another couple of days and were blessed by getting free tickets to Disney World! None of us, besides Tom, had ever been and it was a truly incredible day. Our legs and backs were aching after a very full day of trekking through three of the amazing parks. We cannot rave enough about it, it was just spectacular! That was yesterday. This morning we said good bye to my family and put them on a plane back to freezing cold Michigan.
Enough play time… now it’s BACK TO WORK! 🙂
Right now we are staying in Sanford, FL, very close to our mission’s headquarters. We were able to take a tour of the headquarters and were very blessed by our visit. It was a humbling and encouraging time to see how many people serve “here” to make the ministries of thousands of others “out there” possible. What they do enables so many to live in remote locations all over the world and reach the unreached with the good news of Christ! We are so thankful for those serving on this side of the world! We have been able to connect with several people who are close to us here and are looking forward to more such meetings. We’ll keep you posted.
A couple things we are thanking God for:
- Beautiful accommodations here at our mission’s guest facilities
- Safety as we have traveled
- A wonderful time spent with family
- The encouragement we have received from those we have visited and spent time with

Suffering for Jesus huh? You guys are really making some sacrifices (haha).
Glad to hear you had a good time and to see God providing for some vacation time. Now get back to work.
Miss you,
