Scriptures for the Tepehuan

December 22, 2019 by Tom

Headed out to the Tepehuan Bible dedication!

Almost a month ago I had the huge privilege of attending the Northern Tepehuan Bible dedication here in Mexico! This weekend celebration was attended by Mexicans, Tepehuanes, Americans, and Canadians in celebration of the Scriptures having been translated into the Tepehuan language.

Listening to the story of how God has many people and been faithful over the years in the ministry among the Tepehuan people.

These Scriptures, specifically Old Testament portions and the entire New Testament, were translated over the past almost thirty years by a man named Kevin Case. Kevin and his wife Wendy have been friends of ours on the field since we arrived to Mexico, and have been a huge example to us of endurance and faithfulness in ministry. They have since transitioned off the field, so it was a joy to spend time with them over this weekend event.

There have also been many other people involved in the translation over the years: co-workers, translation consultants, and faithful Tepehuan translation helpers, and others who helped see the translation published and printed. God has been faithful in every step of the process to those involved to see this day become a reality and see His word be placed into the hands of the Tepehuan people. Praise Him!

Originally it did not seem like I would have the opportunity to to go, as seats on the mission flight were limited but at the last minute a seat opened up for me to go as a part of our field leadership delegation. It was incredible to be a part of such a historical event in the life of the Tepehuan people and be there as over 300 Bibles were handed out over the weekend!

Please continue to pray for the Tepehuan church, that the Scriptures would be read and that through them Christ would be known! The word is POWERFUL and ACTIVE, praise God that the Tepehuan people who are dearly loved by God, now have access to His powerful words!
