One of the colored ornaments hanging on our classroom door says, “There would be no Christmas if there was no Easter.” Others proclaim similar sentiments:
“The greatest Christmas gift ever given wasn’t placed under a tree, He was placed on the tree. His name is Jesus.”
“Born to die that man might live. Came to earth new life to give.”
We celebrate Christ’s birth because we know of his life and death, and because we are the benefactors of his resurrection. This is the whole package. This is our good news of great joy. This is Christmas.
“For God did not send His Son into the world to condemn the world, but that the world through Him might be saved.”
So, this Christmas, as we experience different customs and foods here in Mexico, we thank God that regardless of location, temperature, traditions, or language, our reason for celebrating has not changed.
And we thank God that this year the Tepehuan believers can read the Christmas story themselves form their recently printed and dedicated New Testaments. Hear more about this exciting event, shared by a former student at the school where Tom works.
MERRY MAS! (It is just not the same without Christ, is it?)
