Answered Prayers
Thank you to all of you for praying for us. Our trip to Pennsylvania and New Jersey in October went really well. We were able to visit with lots of friends and family and were able to speak at two churches. While we were out there we got an e-mail from the Papua New Guinea embassy that their computer system was back on-line. Since we were so close to Washington DC (relative to Idaho) we decided to make the drive down and get our visas in person. It was a four and a half hour drive each way, but getting our visas in person only took 10 minutes, instead of the 2-3 weeks it would have taken by mail. We left the oldest two kids with Grammy for the day and brought Grace along for the ride.
Now we have our final approval to begin working with Ethnos360 Aviation in Papua New Guinea. We have our plane tickets and will be leaving the first week in January.
Less than two months to go
We have just under two months until we board the plane for PNG, and then the next plane, and then two more planes after that. It’s a four leg trip. We were originally thinking to stop for two days in Australia on the way there, but in the end we decided to fly straight through.
What will we be doing between now and then? We will be packing what we want to bring with us into ten pieces of luggage, storing what we want to keep here in our 6′ x 12′ trailer, and finding new homes for anything that’s left. We have a few last medical and dental check ups and Becky will be having carpal tunnel surgery on her right wrist this month.
What’s going on in PNG?
We’re really excited to begin supporting church planters in PNG soon. We’re looking forward to sending you updates from the field. Another great way that you can see what’s happening there is to follow the NTM PNG facebook page, which gives many updates with photos each week from all over the country. (Although the organization is officially Ethnos360 in the United States, it is still called New Tribes Mission in PNG, hence the fb page name.)
Support Raising Update
Thanks to the generosity of so many of you we were able to purchase our plane tickets with money left over for luggage and other supplies. As of the middle of October we have 85% of our monthly support goal for working in Papua New Guinea. We still need $1,250 a month to reach 100%. If you feel led to partner with us, we’d love to have you join our team. Email for more information Travis_Lesicka@ntm.org. Contributions can be sent to Ethnos360 at: Ethnos360, 312 West First Street, Sanford, FL 32771 (please enclose a note stating for “Travis and Becky Lesicka”). Or online giving and EFT’s are possible at https://ethnos360.org/missionaries/travis-and-rebecca-lesicka
Praises
We thank God for the wonderful trip we had to PA and NJ. The kids traveled great, no one got sick, we got our visas, and we had good meetings with churches and great visits with friends and family.
Prayer Requests
That we would trust God in all things. That we would use our last two months in Idaho wisely. For wisdom in raising our children. For an uncomplicated wrist surgery. For a place to store our cargo trailer while we are away.
Thank you for all your prayers and encouragement!
Love,
Travis and Becky
