“So I pray that God, who gives you hope, will keep you happy and full of peace as you believe in Him. May you overflow with hope through the power of the Holy Spirit.” – Romans 15:13
Why is it that some moments I am happy and full of peace and other moments so stressed and worn out? I think it has a lot to do with my belief/trust in God, or my lack of belief/trust in God. When I trust Him, I know that these things we struggle with or suffer through are so small compared to the wonderful, glorious perfection that awaits us in eternity (2 Corinthians 4:17-18). With that in view, we believe that these sufferings are good for us and worthwhile; which leads to great peace, joy, and hope in our lives no matter our circumstances. Just like Paul in Philippians 4:11-13 who said he had learned to be content no matter what because of Jesus Christ who gave him that ability. I think you can probably relate to the struggle; let’s look to Him in the easy and the hard times.
Ok, done preaching to myself. A few updates… We just had a language evaluation and have officially completed Stage 2 of our national language and culture study!!! We’re right on track and have already begun Stage 3 (there are 4 total).
We have also tentatively decided on our next move and are looking into the potential of moving in May of this year, depending on a few factors like how quickly we progress in language between now and then, our work visas coming through, travel reopening, etc. Yes, quite a few things need to be in place but we aren’t in a big hurry because we can simply continue our studies from here in the meantime.
Speaking of those visas, we are still in the same situation. We continue to get monthly extensions to our original visas as we wait on the next one to come out. We’re very thankful to still be here rather than having to leave while we wait.
Also, Allegra has been dealing with some challenging health issues over the last 2 months or so. She has been quite weak with a high heart rate and other symptoms. We have run a lot of tests but have yet to figure it out. As always, God is so gracious and we are learning to trust Him more.
Praise
- That our current visa has been extended for 4 extra months.
- That we were able to complete stage 2!
- That God loves all of us with a never-stopping love.
- Allegra’s Grandpa went to be with the Lord–thankful for the legacy he left and for the confident hope we have of eternity together with Christ!
Prayer
- For wisdom and healing in regards to Allegra’s health.
- For all the paperwork to go through.
- For patience and wisdom in parenting as Moriah is struggling with obedience and boundaries as we approach birthday #2!
