It has been a great four-year term and another great year. The end of school is in site. The month of May is packed with several events on every weekend, and many other nights have something happening. The Middle School Arts Festival is tomorrow; Abby will be playing in the band. Cheryl, as a senior class advisor, will leave with Juliana and her class on the Senior Trip for five days. Then the final week is packed with tests, projects, grades, and various ceremonies and parties. I am thankful we already have a tentative schedule for next school year and am imputing the students’ class selections already.
We are very thankful that our tickets are purchased and someone will sublet our house here in the Philippines. So we are in process of weeding through all of our things; packing and storing all of our personal belongings. Please pray that someone will purchase our van.
Once we land in the US, it will be great to see all of our friends and family. At first we will simply stay with Cheryl’s parents, but please pray that we may find a house to move into and a vehicle for our furlough year.
Last night while reading the Bible, all these thoughts were running through my mind and I came across the following verses: Ps.127:1, “Unless the LORD builds the house, its builders labor in vain…” And then I reflected on James 4:13-15. As we begin our home assignment, we want to seek God and be used of him in all that we do. He knows where we will live, what vehicle to purchase and our travel plans. We just need to ask Him.
Do pray for us as we transition back to the US and begin our Home Assignment. We are excited about re-connecting with our friends, family and churches. This summer we will go to two reunions and speak at one VBS. We do enjoy seeing everyone and going to our supporting churches, but we do want to speak in other churches as well. Pray that God will open doors and we will be faithful to challenge and encourage people.
Also pray for our finances. Yes, inflation is always a factor but also the age of our supporters. We have been with NTM for 25 years now and we are extremely thankful for my parents’ generation, who has faithfully supported us through prayers and finances, but we need to partner with people of all ages to stay on the mission field.
We are also interested in partnering with people in other ways. People can now support us through Steer, Inc. and other creative ways like renting houses, etc. God has gifted the Body of Christ in many ways and those talents can be used to spread His Kingdom.
Thank you for your prayers and support. Please send us an email so we can set up time to see you and speak at your church.
Serving our Savior,
Walt for the Spicers
