We have been in the US for about 5 weeks now. It has been great to see family again and to reconnect with
friends. Our first week was a whirlwind. I went to a Faith Academy reunion in Texas a few days after landing in Kansas. It was so good to see friends I had not seen for about 30 years and to catch up on their lives. The day I flew back to Kansas, our family got together for Fathers’ Day and we enjoyed seeing my brother, Brian and his whole family (whom I had not seen for 7 years and longer for the rest of the family). It was special to attend their daughter’s wedding on July 6. We also enjoyed going to South Dakota for a few days for a cousin reunion with Walter’s family.
We are still busy getting settled. We now have cell phones and bought a computer for Juliana and our family. We are still seeking God’s wisdom about housing and a vehicle. We have looked at several houses and several vehicles. We would appreciate your continued prayers for those items.
We are thankful that Paul and Ashley have summer jobs. Juliana was not able to find full time work but has worked a few odd jobs for people and has been helping out at church with children’s church and VBS. She hopes to get her drivers’ license soon.
Besides getting our family set up in communications, Walter was busy preparing for Vacation Bible School (VBS). We were the missionaries and Bible teachers for our home church’s VBS program. It was a lot of work but we were thankful for this opportunity to be a vessel and that God’s Word had an impact in the lives of the children here in Rose Hill.
It has been fun to see Paul and Ashley again and we look forward to the time we can see Ben and Jessica face to face, but for now, Skype still works. They would appreciate your prayers as they settle in North Carolina and Ben is still looking for a teaching job.
Thank you for your continued prayers and support. We hope to see many of you during our one-year home assignment, and we would love to speak or share at your church.
In Christ,
Cheryl for the Spicers
