Thank you for praying for us. The last month of our home assignment was extremely busy and we are thankful to God for all the help that we had and all that was accomplished. Our trip to the West Coast went very well. We were able to see our daughter, Juliana, and Devin, her husband. Plus we were able to see several other family members and supporters and spoke at two churches and one in Kansas.
Next, we helped my mother in her next stage in life, living with my siblings or other family members. We helped her downsize more. Having a garage sale was therapeutic for her. Lastly, I helped her to go green with her finances; with no permanent address, this was crucial and she will depend on my siblings and me as she learns how to do this.
Our house in Rose Hill had needed so much work, and we are thankful for all my family and church family who helped make this happen. Tuesday, we have turned it over to our management company and are praying that will go well, trusting God, as it is His house.
Cheryl’s parents have been such a blessing in so many ways during our home assignment. We were able to clean more things out of their “milk barn” to store all of our belongings (including some of our adult children’s things).
With all of this happening, we spent many late nights finishing the above and packing our bags for the Philippines. We left last Tuesday and it started as quite the adventure. We had to work through two canceled flights and one extremely delayed flight, but God was gracious and gave us some very helpful airline employees who worked through it all. Our booking literally was rerouted three different times–even with different airlines. It took us longer (about 30 hours), but we are thankful to be back “home” with all of our bags in our house.
Please continue to pray for us as we settle back into our house and begin our “new” adventure ministering at Faith Academy and being intentional with our free time spending time as a couple, learning to be empty nesters, plus we will look into volunteering at an orphanage.
In Christ,
Walter Spicer
