We are getting into the holiday season here in the Philippines. No snow here to remind us it is getting closer to Christmas, but Christmas decorations are out everywhere. True to the spirit here, we have decorations up in our house. Some of our fall decor is competing with Christmas decorations, but will soon be replaced at the end of the month.
Walter continues to keep busy with teaching social studies, but is getting some help with grading projects. He is also meeting with a few departments as their administrative head
The Happy Couple (the grin says it all). Next semester, he will learn more of his role as deputy head of school for the next school year.
I continue working in the health office three days each week and helping the junior class with all their activities. This is a busy year for them so there are many fundraisers in anticipation of them hosting the junior/senior banquet.
Walter has helped some in preparation for the week of outdoor education in February, but he isn’t as heavily involved as he has been in the past. He will probably be a squad leader. He has gone on an ocular to meet with the mayor of the town where they will be going to prepare the way for them to visit the island of Taal.
Walter has also been talking with the man who is heading up an orphanage of abused girls and hopes to get involved in some activities with them. Pray for him as he figures out how he can be involved.
We have been encouraged as we have talked with our children and parents throughout the year and see how God has been providing for them. Our son-in-law, Devin, will continue working with Amazon in Research and Development with drones and Paul will be taking on a new job that will be better pay for them. God has provided and encouraged Ben and Jessica in Brazil, even getting a camera to replace the one that was stolen from them. Abby is working hard to take classes and helped her sister as her volleyball manager and working. She may graduate early. Walter’s mom is getting settled in a house in Florida with his sister, Cathy, even though they have had some rough times. We are also thankful that our house in the US is rented.
Another praise for us is that our visas to live here in the Philippines have been approved. We have been able to avail of another visa that is cheaper, due to Faith Academy’s status with the Philippines.
Our big news is that Ashley is engaged and will be married this summer to Patrick Lewis. We are so excited for them. We are very pleased with her choice of husband. God has truly been at work in their lives. It will also be a big change for her. Please pray for the finances for a return ticket to the US this summer for the wedding.
Thank you for praying for us,
Cheryl Spicer for the both of us
