I have been concerned about my vision for a while so I finally went to my retina specialist. (I had a detached retina several years ago.) He immediately ordered two tests which confirmed that I have a detached retina in my other eye. I will have surgery this Saturday (Friday evening in the US). While I am waiting, I cannot work or even read as reading could make the detachment worse. After the surgery, I have to keep my head down for two weeks, which is difficult, but essential for healing. Please pray that God will guide the surgeon and provide healing and patience during recovery. Also, please pray that my vision will be restored, as some of the cells may have died and may prevent clear vision, and that God will provide for the cost of the surgery.
On the bright side, we would like to announce that our daughter, Abby, delivered a beautiful girl, Eleanor, on August 25, about a week and a half early. She is healthy and Abby’s delivery went very well. We praise God that He supplied the money, through the generosity of some dear friends, for Cheryl to return to the US to visit our new granddaughter. She will fly later this month. We were able to add a side trip for Cheryl to see her parents, who have recently had some health issues.
We have again been experiencing a lot of heavy rain that has caused some flooding and landslides in some areas. Continue to pray for safety and recovery for all affected. Pray for Walter and those who decide whether or not school needs to be canceled.
Thank you for your prayers for us,
Walter and Cheryl Spicer
