Lots has happened since our last update, and we want to keep you in the loop!
Moved from Missouri
We packed, cleaned and moved from Missouri on December 14th. It was a bittersweet time of saying goodbyes and looking back on just how wonderful our time at the training center had been. We are so thankful for all that the Lord taught us during our time there, the many friends we made and the gracious staff members who were so faithful to pour into our lives. And we are grateful to the many who have given generously through prayer, financial giving and encouragement in order to see us through this training program. We honestly believe that this is the highest caliber of missionary training available to us, it is firmly grounded and based in the Word of God and we are so thankful to have had the opportunity to receive it.
Moved to Tennessee
We left Missouri, arrived in Tennessee and began to get settled into our new home. A wonderful couple in our home church graciously opened up an apartment for us on their property. It is beautifully kept, and we are so excited to be able to call it home for most of this next year. Andrew’s parents and brother were incredibly generous and put in a ton of work to furnish it for us before we arrived. We walked into an adorable apartment that was completely ready to go! What a blessing!
Christmas & New Years
After taking some time to unpack and get settled we enjoyed celebrating Christmas with Andrew’s family and New Years with some friends. It was such a special Christmas for us, praising God for the gift of His Son as we anticipate the birth of our own. More than once this season we heard the story of Simeon meeting Jesus at the Temple in Luke 2, this story was incredibly sweet to hear as that is the name we’ve chosen for our baby. Our desire is for our Simeon to be like Simeon in the Bible, to have a close relationship with the Lord and understand how wonderful the gift of the Savior is.
Started MPD
Our full-time job now until we leave for Papua New Guinea (Lord-wiling in January of 2021) is Ministry Partnership Development (MPD). It is a time set aside for us to raise awareness of the need for people to hear the gospel that still exists worldwide and invite the Body of Christ to be a part of what the Lord is doing overseas. The Lord has already shown himself to be faithful in this area and we are so thankful for our fellow believers who have already chosen to join with us. We know that this is ultimately the Lord’s work and He will accomplish and provide for it. We are resting in Him to supply what is needed for us to be a part of bringing the gospel overseas to the unreached.
Preparing for Simeon…coming soon
Simeon is due January 22! The date is fast approaching and we are anxious to meet him. We’ve been going in for weekly appointments and everything is going well and seems to be on track for the due date. I (Rachel) am really trying to rest in the Lord’s perfect timing and not get impatient as the date gets closer. We’ll send out a special update with pictures of our baby boy whenever he decides to make his grand entrance.
