Merry, merry Christmas!! I write this the day after Christmas in Papua New Guinea, and Christmas Day in America. This Christmas has been a unique one. I spent Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, and the day after Christmas fellowshipping with believers in the tribe where I grew up. I had the opportunity to sing praise to the Lord, talk with believers, be reminded of the greatest Christmas gift of all (Jesus), and be reminded of who the Church is and what believes are to do all in a different language. What a joy!!
This month has been busy! I connected with people, finished my t-shirt quilt, worked on several projects, and prepared for my trip to see my family in Papua New Guinea.
It has been so sweet to fellowship and connect with people. I have felt more and more at home the last couple of months due to all those who have met with me and who pour into me. Thank you!
The month of November and beginning of December were hectic for me as I readied myself for the long and exciting trip to PNG. I had several projects that I had to complete, as well as packing for myself for my trip to Papua New Guinea to visit my family for Christmas. As you can see in the pictures I have had a joyful reunion with my family and have enjoyed my time with them immensely!! I am excited to share more about my time in PNG in my next newsletter. Until then, Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!!!
Looking forward…
This month I am focusing on spending time with my family and enjoying time back in PNG. I am excited to share more about my time in PNG in my next newsletter.
“ Growing up there was a river across from the center where I lived, and often other MKs and I would float down the river for an afternoon. This river was not a clean relaxing river with clear water, but rather a murky river with a squishy bottom that contained things you didn’t want to think about or touch. Once, while there was a group of us floating down the river, we made our usual stop at a tree that leaned out over the river to take turns jumping into the river. That is when something slightly unusual happened. We heard some of the local people yelling and shouting and before we knew it a 9-foot boa constrictor fell from a higher bank above us into the river about 20 meters away. The locals rushed down the bank with machetes and sticks and into the shallow part of the river where the snake was slithering away. They did their best to pin and kill the snake and several other boys and I got closer to watch and cheer the locals on. Eventually, the locals killed the snake and we were able to hold it. It was a great story to brag about to the other kids on the center who missed this particular river trip.”
