We’ve been back in Amdu for about 2 weeks now. We tried to update our blog before we left town so you could be praying for us as we transitioned back to life in the tribe, but there was some trouble and it didn’t post. Thanks to those of you who pray regularly for us whether you hear specifics or not!!
We were welcomed back enthusiastically by our teammates the Hatton’s and by the people as well. As we flew over, we could see the fun surprise that the Hatton’s had made for us (can you see it in the picture?). Of course all our boys have grown over the last 10 months so there were plenty of comments about that. Our house was still standing and was in surprisingly good condition for being empty for so long. We have had some minor things to deal with, as well as a fairly major one – repairing the rack for the solar panels on our roof. Let’s just say it’s a miracle that they were still on the roof!!
After some time to adjust, unpack and do projects around the house, we are now back into full time culture and language learning. We were a bit rusty in our language ability when we first got back, but things we had learned before are coming back to us. We still have so far to go before we can competently speak this language and understand the worldview of our Amdu friends. Please pray often for us. It is easy to get overwhelmed and discouraged at the enormity of the task before us. The Lord is with us and we depend on His strength each day.
A new thing we’ve added to our blog page is a way for you to sign up for our email updates (which is a different thing than subscribing to our blog). If you would like to receive periodic email updates from us, please fill in your name and email address in the Mail Chimp form on the right side of this page.
Thanks for praying for us!! If you would like to write to us but don’t have our email address, you can go to the contact tab here on our blog and send us a message.
