17 Pounds of Books

May 16, 2015 by Brion and Annette Kendzora

When we moved to Colombia, we had to leave behind a lot of our stuff. But stuff is just stuff, right? One thing that hurt us the most to leave was books. Children’s books in particular. A friend told me about a ministry called BookEnds International that sends books to overseas workers, so I looked into it right away. Well, we have been here for almost a year and the boys have all their books memorized, so it was very exciting when our first batch of new books arrived!

When I first contacted BookEnds, they asked me to tell them about our boys and their interests. I picked out some of the books, but because Jeanne got to know our boys, she picked out most of them and she did an amazing job! They even included books with Spanish in them as well to help the boys improve their Spanish. (And we got some sweet cassette tapes and a couple books for Brion and I.) Words cannot describe how wonderful this was for us. Now all we need is an actual bookshelf!
