My coworker took these pics while we were out together learning language.
We’ve been planning for the rest of the year, scheduling flights and house building teams and what not, and I thought I’d share with you what the rest of 2012 holds for the Hostetter clan.
Lord Willing. . .
The heli will be coming in June with food and supplies (and hopefully some packages).
Then we won’t see the heli or another white man (not counting my partner) until late August when consultants are coming in to check our language process. Also at this time a couple guys will be coming in to set the posts for our house. So, before then we’ll have to finish clearing the land for our house and work with the Pal guys to gather bush posts.
The consultants, the builders, and us will all be flying out of the tribe a few days later and our other coworkers will be flying in after a long crazy absence from their work here. Yay!
We’ll spend September on a mission center preparing everything we can for house building. Also, near the end of September is New Tribes’ annual missionary conference. As soon as the conference is over we’ll be heading to another mission center for a two week Team Translation Workshop.
And the minute the translation workshop is over we’ll be flying back into the tribe and going nuts on our house! Lord willing we’ll have a couple teams of guys fly in to help build and by early November we’ll be settling into our new home and getting back to work on language and culture learning.
And that is the 2012 tentative Hostetter plan.
If a trip to Papua New Guinea to help build a house in the jungle sounds like something for you, shoot us an email and we’ll tell you all you need to know to become part of the Hostetter building team!
