My alarm (my kids) didn’t go off this morning so I didn’t get my teeth brushed or my face shaved before I headed out the door for Post Literacy class (disgusting, I know). I did get three pieces of home-made toast and a banana into me though before throwing on the mud boots and tromping through slop for 15 minutes to the school. It was a good day of class. We all read together for a while and then we gave some time for individuals to do a little reading aloud in front of the class. Every student except one took that opportunity and then we wrote a story together about how to cook and eat pandanus fruit. After class I met with our future teachers for a little while as we continued to prep them for teaching the next class starting in a few weeks. I also tested about 6 guys on their reading ability after class today and every one of them had made some improvement since their last ‘test’ and some had leaped forward significantly. I arrived back home right at lunch time. The kids were finishing up their lunches and we kicked them out of the kitchen so Maggie and I could have some conversation time together. She went to work in the office after lunch and I spent some time with a young man on our porch who had some requests for us. After he left I got an email out to tech services about our broken washing machine and then I played a game of Settlers with Micah and Cole. Since I spent half my day Sunday working I thought I’d take a little off this afternoon. After Settlers (Micah won) I went to work in the office for a little over an hour and then it was bounce time. Some things that came up today were translating leavened and unleavened bread (something not part of Pal culture), and translating the image of God (and even trying to hammer down what that means). I ran around with the kids a bit after bouncing and then we came home, washed up, and ate supper. We cleaned up from supper and then Maggie left for ladies’ Bible study (just with the coworkers) and I put the girls to bed. Now, the boys are in their room playing their Leapsters and I’m blogging. In a few minutes I’ll put the boys to bed and then work on a few odds and ends for an hour or so (I’m thinking I’ll get the next speed/comprehension reading test ready so it’s ready whenever the students are ready to give it a go). After that it’ll be veggin’ time for a little while before nighty night time.
Alright, 5 days down, 2 to go. I hope it’s not just my mother reading this.
