Please pray for me.
This Saturday morning (01/30) I will be having a surgery to have my gallbladder removed. For the past couple years I’ve had a couple of episodes yearly with severe abdominal pain or back pain. After an episode of horrible abdominal pain last week that lasted 10 hours, I went to a doctor this week who diagnosed me with having stones in my gallbladder. The doctor recommended removing my gallbladder as there was no guarantee of nearby medical attention if I were to have another attack. This semester we have a 5 week practicum planned out in the mountains (6 hours away from medical facilities) and this summer I have plans of driving to Oregon. With the 3-day weekend I figured it would be a good weekend to do the surgery.
I will be having the surgery at a hospital here in Chihuahua, Mexico. I have already spent quite a bit of time asking the doctor numerous questions about the problem, surgery and recovery. God has already answered my prayers in regards to this doctor & his wisdom. My doctor did this same surgery on a fellow missionary friend in November and she recommended him to me.
God has also made it possible that my mama will fly into Chihuahua tomorrow night and be here with me during the surgery and for my recovery time. I really didn’t expect that and I’m excited to have her here with me!
This is the first surgery I’ve ever had (outside of having my wisdom teeth removed), so please pray for my time as I recover. I don’t know how I’ll do after the surgery or during the recovery time. I’m not sure how this will affect my responsibilities here at the Ranch in the next few weeks, so I’ve worked on getting as many things ready beforehand as possible.
Please also pray for the whole insurance process afterwards. That I think will be the part that I’m looking forward to the least about this whole process!
I’m already at peace about making this decision and having the surgery this week instead of waiting for another episode to happen. God has already gone before me in providing a good doctor, a hospital where I feel comfortable to have the surgery, my mama coming to stay with me while I recover, medical insurance & money in savings to cover part of the surgery, and numerous people are already praying for the surgery and recovery.
Thank you for praying for me during this time. Hopefully I’ll be able to send out an update by Facebook or email after the surgery once I’m in my room.
Blessings,
Crystal Pierce
