Thank you for praying for my surgery and for all the nice emails and cards – I’m still working on responding to them all.
The gallbladder removal surgery went very well. I only had to stay one night in the hospital and my mom was with me the whole time. I am thankful for the surgery experience I did have. The hospital here in the city is associated with Baylor University and is a very good hospital. I wasn’t nervous about the surgery, because I had already been praying for a good doctor to help me out and for the surgery. It was done laproscopially, and I only have four inscisions. The doctor saved the stones for me and told me that my gallbladder was full of them. I do have a video of the surgery and a cd of the ultrasound, if anyone is interested in watching it! I told my doctor that I was thankful to have had the surgery, but I hope I never have to have another one!
I’m back home now healing. Full recovery will take 6-8 weeks. I saw the doctor a week ago and he said everything was healing well. I have noticed that I’m getting tired easier and that I’m really worn out by the end of the day. But it’s is getting easier to do things around the house. I’m very thankful that this semester my main focus is just the finances and only teaching in chapels once or twice so I have enough time to focus on my recovery without rushing it.
My mom left early Tuesday morning, and I’m so thankful she was able to be here to help take care of me. I didn’t realize how wiped out I would be after the surgery. It was nice not to have to worry about making something for myself to eat at each meal time or the cleanup afterwards. She took very good care of me while she was here! Thanks Mama!
