Has anyone out there in newsletter land ever looked at your spiritual condition and exclaimed “The harvest is past, the summer is ended, and we are not saved?” (Jeremiah 8:20)
Even when we were dead in our trespasses and sins not many of us considered ourselves dead. …And most likely we didn’t think much about our eternal destiny. But when God gets ahold of your heart and you see yourself in need of Jesus, there is new light that draws you to Christ and the gospel. Then we are faced with a choice… “choose you this day.” (Joshua 24:15)
This summer we got to present that choice to a lot of kids in camps all around the region. Though it is a delight to see kids embracing the gospel, and though it is a lot of work to prepare teaching sessions for camps, I am thankful for the many who chose Jesus and for some who consecrated their lives to serve Jesus in ‘the regions beyond.’ I am also thankful that summer camp is 9 weeks and not nine months!
…But summer hasn’t ended! Yeah, kids will return to school and schedules will bring changes but we will continue on in our efforts to bring people face-to-face with the gospel and life choices to participate in the most invigorating job in the world –telling lost ones about Jesus. There’s still time to bring in the Harvest.
