Hello! Summer is coming & we feel Central Florida warming up already!
Here is some news from The TXXXX People group in Papua New Guinea! Rejoice with us, and pray for these folks.
“Wow! The last month has been busy! The best news is the rest of the new TXXXX Scripture portions arrived and have been given to the TXXXX church! Because there is now 68% of the TXXXX New Testament in print we had to put the narrative portions (Genesis, Mark, Acts, and Revelation) in one book and the Epistles in another (all but four epistles and two gospels are now complete!) The believers were especially excited to have the book of Hebrews in their language. Paska says that Hebrews now makes sense to him! He has only had Hebrews in the national language of Melanesian Pidgin in the past to read. Since this is not his heart language it is much harder for him to understand.
Thank you for standing with us! Pray for the TXXXX believers as they are reviewing the truths of Romans! Also, please pray for Missionary Ned as he has a strenuous hike (April 18th in the USA) into the tribe where he will do a translation check and his 53 year old knees don’t really like it. (He will be hiking out too, when he is finished with the Translation check.)
We were blessed to be invited to Tampa the weekend of May 7, to one of our supporting church’s Ladies Tea. We both went, (the men served the ladies). It was fun to see many folks there that we haven’t seen for a long while. We even had the opportunity to share a meal with Linda’s brother and sister-in-law. That was a special blessing. Last weekend we went to South Florida to celebrate George’s mom’s Birthday and Mothers day. We had a nice time there.
Our garden is growing, and we have some little tomatoes, and peppers, to go along with our Kale, and Collard Greens. We also have 2 little pineapples! This is a nice hobby that we both enjoy. We have been installing a drip sprinkler system to irrigate our little plants. This has been a new experience.
Beka and Cody have graduated from the training at the NTM Missionary training center. Their next training step is Flight School in Spokane Washington, and Beka’s looking at taking a course to bridge from Paramedic to Nurse (RN) while Cody is involved in Flight school. Pray for God to continually direct their steps and provide what they need for these times of training. (Jobs and friends). They will be here in Florida for a while in June. We will be so glad to see them.
Brett and Debby and family have sent lots of fun pictures of the kids lately. We sure enjoy those. We talk occasionally and it is nice to be so close via Skype. Brett and Lily (5) have had some medical problems and we ask that you would hold them up in prayer as they seek to find some answers to those issues. The twins are growing fast, and are so cute and full of giggles. They will be moving to a new house this month-they have a little over a week, and Debby is sick too! Please pray for them!
Amy and Hector have another couple of months in Oregon before they hit the road again, heading to Michigan and then Missouri for the training. (FINALLY!!) God has not “wasted” their time and one day we may understand the “seeming sidetracks” on their way to take the Gospel to a tribal group in Mexico. Please pray for their support level, as it is not enough for them to return to the field. Thanks!
David & Joice and Tim & Charity are doing well, and learning the new things God is teaching them. We are so blessed to have a family that is walking with our Lord.
George is enjoying teaching Ephesians in Sunday School. The truths there are so good for us to understand. It is fun to see people understanding God’s truth and appropriating it in their lives. Linda has had a discipleship opportunity as she volunteers at our local library. A high school gal on her shift (a young believer) has lots of questions and it’s been good to share the word of God with her.
Thanks for praying for us as we share God’s Word with others. We seek to encourage our missionary family within NTM, as well as other believers at our church. We seek to share the truth of the Gospel with others we have contact with as well.
Thank you, for standing with us and praying for us as we serve the Lord here in New Tribes Mission. This month we have some travelling to do, and we pray that the Lord gives us good opportunities along our way.
Thanks for your prayers.
In His Grace,
George and Linda Heckman
