Dear Friends,
Greetings from the “travelers”! We are home again safely after a quick trip to Michigan. It’s good to be back. We had a great time visiting with some dear friends in South Carolina. We had some nice visits in churches which we visited in South Carolina and Michigan. We had a week with good friends and former co-workers (missionaries now headed to South Asia with the Gospel) while in Michigan. Overall, a great trip.
We opened the Michigan house up for the summer season, and soon will have people enjoying our property at the lake! We will even get to enjoy it a bit this summer with almost all of the kids and family members. We are thankful God has allowed us to keep our family “Grandma’s house” and we can still use it and share it! Our kids went there almost every summer when they were growing up!
Join with us in praying for the AGTA people in the Philippines. This week the missionaries are beginning teaching in the New Testament. They will be introducing Jesus to these dear Agta folks. Pray that the Agta people will have their eyes open to see Who Jesus really is, and learn to trust Him!
Beka and Cody have been with us for a couple of weeks. They are seeing God move in exciting ways to provide for the direction He is leading them, into Missionary Aviation. If you don’t get their updates, you’ll want to log onto their blog at www.codyandbeka.com. Or let me know and I can let her know to add you to their newsletter list. (P.S . She writes a great letter!)
Debby and Brett and family are doing ok. She has a mosquito borne virus at this time, (Maybe Chikungunya which is like Dengue fever, but not Dengue.) Please pray for them as they continue in polishing their Spanish abilities, and making a difference where they live. They have new opportunities to develop relationships in their new neighborhood. They do have issues with the water going off for big parts of the day several times a week. Pray that this would be resolved. Praise the Lord the kids are all well, and the girls are enjoying riding the school bus to school! They will come to the US in late July. Check out Debby’s Facebook for CUTE pictures of the girls and the twins!
Tim has changed jobs. We are so thankful for two new jobs that came to him quickly after he left the bank. Pray he will learn quickly and do a great job for his bosses as he learns to lay flooring, and works at a restaurant. Also for Charity who is still doing Nanny work.
Amy and Hector and boys will begin travelling next month. They have really enjoyed their time in Oregon. Pray as they will be visiting friends, and in July Hector’s family will travel from Mexico to meet up with them in Michigan for a vacation. Pray for safety in travels, also for Hector and Amy’s support level to be what it should be for them as they begin Missionary Training in Missouri.
David and Joice are doing well in Oregon. David finds he is very busy with his church duties, and is taking a group of kids on an outreach trip to Denver this weekend. This is kind of a new area for him. I know he will appreciate your prayers!
George and I are working with our missionaries around the world. Many of them are finding it time to retire. (These transitions can really be rough!) Yesterday, I sent information regarding a call to Jury Duty to a missionary friend in Asia-Pacific. He had 5 days to respond. We were thankful he happened to be in town, where he could respond in a timely manner, online! Today I am writing our missionaries that are on Home Assignment, and sending them a booklet of encouragement to consider during their time at home. We pray that we can be a resource and encouragement to our folks who come home, sometimes “just a bit tired”! I am sure you can imagine what it would be like to have to pack everything up for a year, leaving behind home and responsibilities, to go to a place that used to be called “home”. Sometimes many emotions cross a missionary’s mind as they transition through the changes involved with a Home Assignment! Thanks for praying for them. It isn’t really a year of vacation, by a long shot!
We are so thankful we know we can count on your prayers for us. That means a lot. Your friendship, support, and moral support, are gifts to us and we appreciate you so much! Philippians 1:3
I’ll list some specific prayer requests below. Thanks! Feel free to let us know how to better pray for you, too!
Love in Christ,
George and Linda Heckman
