“It’s better than a poke in the eye!”
I have said that so many times lately….now, I know it is too true!!
Almost anything is better than a poke in the eye, which I received a week or so ago! A silly unintentional accident left me with a corneal abrasion. And although it did not hurt on the way to the hospital and when I went to get my prescription for the antibiotic ointment, it really started being a bother when I was trying to drive back to work from the store! So much so I decided to get someone else to drive me home today.
Well, that said, I hope none of you get a “poke in the eye!” We trust the Lord is showing you His bountiful blessings, and is drawing you near to Himself. Near to Him, that is where I want to be. How about you!? James says if we draw neat to God, He will draw near to us. What a neat promise! Let’s draw near with a true heart in full assurance of faith. Hebrews 10:22
We sure enjoyed our time with Brett and Debby and family before they departed for Nicaragua on September 1. Please pray for them as they readjust to Nicaraguan climate and culture. Pray for the girls as they get back to school and catch up. Also for the health of the entire family. They have all been sick so often! The boys are changing so quickly now, It is fun to watch them grow. Asher pulls himself up to standing already. He is a mover!!! They like to bump a soccer ball around the floor in their walkers! Please pray for the Chapman’s safety and health.
Tim and Charity arrived in Florida last weekend. They are moving to Ocala, Charity has a substitute teaching job lined up, and is applying for a nanny position. Tim had an interview today. Plus, they still need to find housing there. Thanks for holding them up in prayer. They will need to find a church home as well.
Amy and Hector are settling in to new responsibilities at the Missionary Training Center in Missouri. The boys are enjoying preschool classes, and Amy is in charge of one of them with 10 little kiddos in it! (She has helpers!)
Cody continues to do well in flight school, he has some tricky stuff coming up, so pray for him to learn well. Beka has her interview at the hospital there tomorrow. She has also interviews with Life Flight-to be a medic on the chopper. It has been a trying time for her to wait and wait! God’ doesn’t make mistakes, She is learning to trust Him more and more! Both jobs together would be great!
David and Joice are doing well in Oregon. They may be planning a move in the future, perhaps to Florida! Their anniversary was yesterday! They celebrated with a couple of days at the Anniversary Inn in Boise, Idaho.
That’s all about our crew.
“Wait!” you say? How did I get the poke in the eye??? Well I was coming around a door, that Debby reached over to close, and her finger, poked me in the eye! OUCH! All better now!
BREAKING NEWS THIS MORNING: Brett and Debby’s house was broken into and his money and computer (but not the cord) was stolen. Thankful that the family is ok, and that not tons of money was in the wallet. They also did not take the wallet, or ID cards, etc., just the cash. As they had already paid the rent, it want’ a huge amount. Please pray for these kids, they have been in a “pressure cooker” for a year or more now. Sept 6 was Chloe’s 8th birthday.
We really do appreciate your prayers and support for our ministries and family.
Thanks for your prayers and care for the Heckman crew!
