Catch up with the Heckmans!!
SUMMER FUN!!!!
Dear Friends and Family,
Wow, the time flies by. It is summer already and today marks our 16th anniversary of moving to Florida, and 16 more years of God’s faithfulness in our lives!
Thank you so much for the part you have had in our journey with Him. We appreciate your prayers, friendship, and faithfulness.
Last weekend, we had a weekend at home, and were thankful for a break from travelling to South Florida every weekend. We had hoped to accomplish a lot while home. Friday we worked all day trying to get our internet to stay connected. At 11:30 pm we found the problem-software needed an update or it shut down the internet every hour! We got our second Shingles shot on Friday, too. Saturday, Linda spent a good deal of time sleeping as she felt pretty awful from the shot.
Sunday we enjoyed fellowship with our church family here, and were getting ready for the Family night potluck at 6 pm. Linda was loading the car and waiting for George to come outside, and noticed flowing water in the flower bed! (Not a good sign!) A neighbor helped us get the water turned off at the street, and we found the leak, easily (as it was gushing out of the break in the pipe!).
with good help from our neighbor, we were able to get things fixed Sunday evening. We left the hole open to make sure it wasn’t springing any more leaks. Tuesday as I walked past, I heard the water flowing again! Pipe 2 had broken! We have removed the palm tree which we think must have been growing and putting pressure on the pipes, causing the breakage!
ARE WE HAVING FUN YET!!?!?!
Amy and Hector are back in Mexico and trying to get the house they are renting inhabitable! The electricity came right to their house with no fuses or breakers! Their landlord graciously allowed Hector to fix that (and the other issues with the house) and he said they could take it off their rent! It has been very HOT there. The Flores’ are taking a 2 week “break” in El Paso to “staff” the guest house ministry there. Ben turns 4 on July 7! It’s unreal, how quickly these guys grow! Elena has been loving helping unpack boxes!
Beka, Cody, and Abi have been travelling and most recently were visiting Cody’s sister, after a stop at Ethnos360 Aviation in McNeal Arizona. They got to see the place they will move to in August, when they start training. Abi has a tooth now! He is a happy 4 month old! The Burns’ should be home next week, and then get to pack up to move to Arizona!
Debby and Brett are doing well. They do seem to have plenty of sickness to deal with, though! Seems like someone is always sick at their house! ☹ Debby has been refurnishing furniture and selling it. She loves it and it has helped with their needs. They love their church family in Palm Bay and God has given them tremendous friends there. Brett is still teaching English online.
David and Joice are doing well. They have passed the half-way point with their pregnancy! Baby Boy Heckman is due in November. 😊
Tim says he is doing well in Ocala. Thanks for remembering him in prayer as he is taking some new training at work, and that he would be safe, and walk with the Lord in truth. Thanks!
We are doing our best to manage our responsibilities. Our department at work is transitioning to new HR software this year, so we are in training sessions a lot. Plus trying to keep up with the work load of helping these faithful folks retire, some after 30-50 years of service! There are always lots of changes they have to make. We pray that we can be an encouragement to them! We are working with several families now, getting them through the processes necessary to move to Retirement.
We have a good group of new Associate members going through their Pre-Field Orientation this week in Sanford! How exciting to see these folks headed out for 1-4 years to fill needs on the fields! Many times our Associates decide to make a career on the field, and take Career membership after their term of service.
We are praying for about 20 more folks to go to the Missions Training curse in Missouri this August. We have the room, just need the people with hearts to see the Gospel taken to all the world.
It has been fun to see the pictures the kids have taken as they travel, of long time friends and supporters! We haven’t been able to travel that far lately, but enjoy seeing you in the kids’ visits! Lord willing, we will be able to go West sometime in our future. At this time, we feel the Lord would have us continue with care for Mom and Dad Heckman on the weekends as we have been doing for the last 1 ½ years.
This has been too long of a letter, so sorry. We don’t forget about you, but get swamped at times. Thanks for your prayers, and notes of encouragement. We love to hear from you, and how we can pray for you.
In His Strength,
George and Linda Heckman
