Dear Friends,
This year has gotten off to a great start! We have been very busy and things are ramping up even more.
January flew by, and good intentions of catching up on a letter went by like the wind! We went to Fort Lauderdale 4 weeks in a row, and then the last weekend of the month, Linda went to Tallahassee to have a sister weekend with her sister, from Montgomery, Alabama. They had a great time, including hiking over 8 miles in a wildlife refuge! George stayed home, an did some things that we have been needing to do a long time! The house and driveway looked great when Linda got home.
February sends us to Denver and Greeley, Colorado. We have a friend getting married, and we plan to go to his wedding as well as touch base with many of our co-workers from days at Colorado Bible Church and Arvada Christian School while in Denver. Since it has been about 13 years since we have been there in Denver and Greeley, we are looking forward to visiting with our friends from those places. We had quite a few years of ministry there and it will be good to touch base again.
We would like to do a couple of more trips this Spring as well. We have been asking the Lord for wisdom and His provision to do these. In March we would like to attend the memorial service of our former pastor from Haines, Oregon. He is with the Lord, but we’d love to honor him and visit our home church and see our friends from our time in Baker City, Oregon (1987 through 2003).
In mid-April Baby Girl Flores is coming in Chihuahua, Mexico. This Grandma and Grandpa would love to go and help out for a week and see the rest of the family too, as well as friends in Mexico. Please pray we will have wisdom for whether or not we can tackle these trips. Our hearts are there, we have made plans and researched, but the Lord knows and will plan our steps! Thanks for praying with us.
Mom and Dad Heckman are doing well. Mom had a fall and conked her head on January 24, but she is doing ok now. Dad has been working hard at his exercises, and we get him up the days we are there, so he can sit in the lift recliner, or his wheelchair. We have been helping him stand a few times each day, too. Weightbearing is not easy after being in bed for two years! Thanks for your continued prayer for them.
News from the Mission: THANK YOU! For partnering with us in making this happen!
In 2019, six translations were completed, and Global Partners engaged in five new people groups. Phase one teaching was completed in four works! In the next four years, we anticipate 34 New Testament translations being completed as well as engaging new works in 35 people groups. We have so much to thank the Lord for, and we thank each of you for being part of the team that helps make this happen. In this report you will see much to be praying about, so we want to encourage all of us to pray without ceasing. “Therefore we also pray always for you that our God would count you worthy of this calling, and fulfill all the good pleasure of His goodness and the work of faith with power, that the name of our Lord Jesus Christ will be glorified in you and you in Him, according the grace of our God and the Lord Jesus Christ.” (1 Thessalonians 1:11-12)
Other news on the family front: The grandkids are growing like weeds! Debby and Brett’s twins turned 4 this last January! Abi Burns will be 1 this month, Elena Flores will be 2 this month! Tim will be 26!! Amy has her birthday this month too, but we won’t tell her age! Brett and Debby have their 14th anniversary!
Amy and Elena have been sick a few weeks, and now Hector has an infection and he had to go to the doctor. We are praying still for their truck (in El Paso) to sell. They have not been able to take it back into Mexico, (they can’t import it due to its age) and have had NO “bites” on it at all. Please pray to know God’s mind on what they should do for a vehicle.
Thanks for the part you have had in our lives and ministries. We thank the Lord for your partnership, both financially, in prayer and moral support. Your friendship means so very much!
We have more pictures to show they show up on my facebook post and the link to our Mail Chimp blog https://mailchi.mp/76e751f73492/happy-thanksgiving-6123811 This is the latest one, not Thanksgiving one!)
Have a wonderful February! We trust you will find the Lord faithful to encourage your hearts and to finish the good work He has begun in you. (Philippians 1:6).
Blessings,
George and Linda Heckman
