Hope… a dangerous word

Hope… a dangerous word

August 29, 2022

What’s that thing that will solve your problem? Where could you move, that would make your life more fulfilling? What job will be the final piece to fall in place? What friendship will bring a sense of completion to your life? All of those are actual things in my life that I have, recently, thought […]

Is Missions On Hold? We might feel like it, but Jesus said “I will build my church.”

Are we speaking to the void or to a person?

Are we speaking to the void or to a person?

January 30, 2020

One of the most valuable things we can do when it comes to building community, whether it’s to support missionaries or to rally around a common purpose, is to communicate. Obviously, right?! I think it’s important to state it again though. We live in an era where “speaking to the void” is easy. Social media […]

He is risen. What’s next?

He is risen. What’s next?

April 17, 2017

We remembered and entered into the suffering and sacrifice, then we sweetly celebrated His resurrection. But what's next? Is it just a joyful moment to relish in like so many other holidays? Or should we keep our eyes on what Jesus did next too?

After Exercise…Growth

After Exercise…Growth

June 26, 2015

Believe it or not, it’s been three years since Bethany and our three kids along with Lynn, Bethany’s mother and I moved from Jackson Michigan to Sanford Florida. In those three years, kids have started new school(s), had a host of medical procedures and in general, have grown like weeds in the steamy Florida sun. […]

What comes to mind? Eggs or Truth?

April 8, 2015

Despite the picture above this past Easter was a quiet one for us. And though we celebrated the truth and impact of Jesus’ resurrection from the dead to give us new and eternal life, it was still a quiet day. I couldn’t help but notice though as we stopped at the grocery store, the night […]

It’s gonna take all of us!

It’s gonna take all of us!

February 16, 2015

It's normal human behavior to face need and try to work all the harder to meet it out of your own strength. But all the more it's going take a team 'cause none of us are capable for this task, on our own.

Do you like a good story?

Do you like a good story?

May 11, 2012

Every night my boys ask for me to read a story. It could be something silly like “The Caboose Who Got Loose” or something weighty beyond their years like the original translation of Jules Verne’s classic, “In Search of the Castaways.” And to their credit, Jack loves to both hear me read God’s word as […]

Visions… (Pt. 1)

Visions… (Pt. 1)

March 16, 2012

Your life right now is like a car speeding down the highway. Are you sitting head down playing games on your phone? Or are you intently looking around, window rolled down and hands hanging out feeling the wind pass by?

@sanfordporchfest Thank you guys for what I can on @sanfordporchfest Thank you guys for what I can only believe was a TON of work to organize and rally! This was my fam’s first chance to ALL get out to it in our almost 11 years of living 2 miles from downtown.

From the Squirrel Nut Zipper vibes of @oakhilldrifters to the solid southern rock (with a heavy dose of Isbell and DBT influence) of @jfoleyandthewheelhouse to the super tight and in the pocket sound of @bmb.live , the late afternoon golden hour was alive. Then, it was joyful to watch @catridgewaymusic and the Tourists play to full Centennial Park.

Super-fun day!
