Even though I (Amy) had heard a bit about what our new place in Oklahoma would be like, I was still a little dazed as I walked into the large, windowless, room filled with bunk beds. How was I going to make this livable and homey for the next seven weeks? It’s amazing what a few days, some adjusting, and a little creativity will do! It’s not what we’re ‘used to’, but we are feeling quite at home now here at the church camp in Tahlequah OK. Then there are the bugs…
“Whack!!” I was startled awake by a loud noise coming from the bathroom. I stumbled in to discover Jordan picking up the dead scorpion that he had killed with his flip flop. I wondered if this would become a regular occurrence… after all, this was the third scorpion he had killed in just one week!
It has been crazy discovering all the unique bugs and creatures crawling around. Some of them, like the tarantulas and scorpions, are at least known to me by sight; others are completely foreign. Many look like ones from back home (flies, wasps, etc.), but are literally four times the size! Every day is an adventure as we learn more about our new home.
Wondering what our living situation looks like? Take a look at the photos in this gallery, and find out!

Hi Jordan and Amy,
Thank you so much for the birthday card and call and the beautiful flowers for my birthday. I have read
the blog for this week and am praying extra hard for you. I know it has to be the call of God for you
to be there with your little ones. You have made it like home and I was pleased to see the Elayne and
Titus puzzles on the toy shelf! My prayers and love are with you. It was great to talk with both of
you and hear from Amy’s angle and from Jordan’s as well. I am very interested in everything and
would have loved to have been a missionary myself. I guess 7 short term trips to Russia was like
that in some ways and 20 years teaching Bible Study Fellowship was a mission of sort, but I am
excited for you and praying you through. Amy, you are a neat and organized mother and housewife.
I know your family appreciates you for making it as much like home as possible. Love, Gram/GiGi
