Most people have headaches semi-frequently throughout life – and I (Jordan) am no exception! A little pain on the brain here and there is not a foreign concept, and many a time I’ve been thankful beyond words to life in an era of Tylenol and Aleve! Yet even a lifetime of headaches hadn’t prepared me for the sudden, intense pain I experienced two days ago. That one… was something else entirely.
Last Tuesday, I was wrapping up a routine workout session – pushing my triceps as far as they could go, and reminding myself that all this work was for a purpose! Suddenly, pain swelled up strongly in the top and back of my head. It took a few minutes of laying on the floor for the initial agony to pass… and for the rest of the day a cycle of throbbing headaches would slowly grow and diminish. Believe me when I tell you… not a fun experience!
After a day of rest, I gingerly began my leg workout this morning – yet before I finished my first set of lunges and jumps, the intense pain returned in full force. It was perhaps worse than any other pain in my life, and had moved further down my head toward my upper neck. Clearly, this was not an area to toy around with: we needed to see a doctor, and immediately.
As a result of that visit, I am now scheduled to have an MRA with contrast tomorrow (Friday the 8th at 2pm PST). This procedure will allow doctors to map out the blood vessels in my brain, some of which are ‘hidden’ behind various bone structures. While the likelihood is small, the doctors want to rule out the possibility of an aneurysm – which is why we agreed to have this done despite our financial situation and lack of insurance coverage. Once that question has been answered, we’ll know better how to proceed with making sure this pain does not recur.
Please be praying for my family and I tomorrow as I go in for this procedure, and as we then await word of the MRA’s results (which may be delayed until Monday). Pray for the doctors to clearly see what there is to see, and for our continued peace as we trust God to work this situation to His glory. Ultimately, that is by far the most important issue at stake in this situation… and I look forward to seeing how God will use this in the days to come!

We are praying for you and your recovery! We played a game of Trains the other night and thought of all the good times we had together. Look forward to doing that again!

We’ll be praying for you guys! These kind of things can be scary but we have the assurance that God is in control. Praying for clarity for the doctors, and full healing.

Wow, Jordan that’s scary! I will be praying for sure! Let me know if we can help in anyway financially. We have been blessed by others and would love to pass it on if we can.
