It’s amazing how much can change in the space of just one week!
Above, you see the result of the Peaceful Valley Church team’s efforts in Las Moras last week – a structure twice the height of that in my last blog post’s photo. All week long, we worked: cutting studs, placing plywood, framing walls, and building trusses. Sweating through (at times) nearly 100 degree heat, we pushed forward – even when inevitable surprises required on-site adjustments. By the end of the week, though very tired, we saw results matching Don’s most optimistic hopes for what a team could accomplish during our time out there.
While we enjoyed seeing God’s provision for the goals we set out to achieve, the our time of fellowship together was just as sweet. Meeting together with the Nahuatl believers that Sunday morning was awe-inspiring and humbling… as we heard God praised and His Word proclaimed in three languages at the same time! I think the Nahuatl enjoyed hearing English verses of familiar praise songs just as much as the PVC guys got a kick out of hearing them in Spanish and Nahuatl. God has done an amazing thing, making one Body out of incredibly diverse humanity – seeing that on display was a rare privilege which I will not soon forget.
Today, even as I write these words, a second church team is on it’s way to continue the project. Crossroads Bible Church has sent five men to accompany Don, myself, and our coworker Beth for one final pre-rainy season week of construction. A ton of challenges certainly lie ahead – the logistics of travel and materials purchasing have already presented last-minute complications! – but we know the faithfulness of our God, which has continually been on display throughout this process.
Thank you for standing with us in prayer as we serve Him together! We look forward to sharing the results of this next week with you, and seeing firsthand His work in the growth of the Nahuatl church.
