Christmas Hope

December 23, 2020 by Jordan Husband

For thousands of years, a broken world waited.

When new-Created perfection gave way to sin’s corruption, a promise was made from Creator to Creation – one of hope and redemption, of love and reconciliation. One day, a Son – a Savior – would come. Through Him, what was lost in Eden would be restored: man and God would walk together once more in perfect fellowship, not by human achievement but rather Divine arrangement.

In each generation, the faithful ones waited.

At last came the time for Messiah’s arrival – in flesh declaring God’s favor toward men. Both chorus celestial and travelers terrestrial proclaimed this great theme: the One True God walks among men once again. His path through this world wound from stable to cross, yet Death could not hold the Bethlehem Lamb – and victorious Christ said He’d come back again.

For Jesus’ return, the Church now has waited.

From nation to nation this good news now spreads, carried by layman and preacher alike. ‘The ends of the earth’ our ambition remains, that all tongues and tribes hear the Gospel declared. At long last, the Nahuatl have learned of the truth – though much work remains, for some of our neighbors true Christmas joy reigns.

In this New Year arriving, may memory recall the reason we celebrate every December. And as we remember, let purpose keep firm: this hope we now share is intended for all.

Awake And Join The Cheerful Choir
W. A. Pickard-Cambridge, A Collection of Dorset Carols

Awake and join the cheerful choir
Upon this joyful morn
And glad Hosannas loudly sing
For joy a Saviour's born.

The shining host in bright array
Descend from heaven to earth;
And all the gentle heart and voice
Proclaim a Saviour's birth.

Let all the choirs on earth below
Their voices loudly raise;
And sweetly join the cheerful band
Of angels in the skies.

But let us join the cheerful song
With joy and pious mirth,
And all, with grateful heart and voice,
Proclaim the Saviour's birth.

    Great message, Jordan! So well voiced and included the gospel for all to read! What a lovely gift to give Jesus on his birthday!!!
    God bless all the Jordan Husbands at this time and always. Your lives are a gift to the village and to all of us too! Miss you here at Grammie’s House, but then no one can come this year. Everyone is following the COVID guidelines in hope of not getting the virus. Next year will be more normal perhaps, but with no more celebration because Jesus is never cancelled!
    We may all be together then, but the celebration will not be any more special because Jesus is always the reason we celebrate.
    The gift not wrapped in tissue but wrapped in love every year!
    Thank you for the very special Christmas cards. My favorites!!!
    Loving you all, always and all ways, Grammie/GiGi💞🙏🎄🥰
