Reflecting on 2021-2022, we have seen a lot of changes in our circumstances, but also God’s unchanging faithfulness. We are reminded of the Bible’s promise in Isaiah 54:10 where God says that even if “the mountains shall depart, and the hills be removed; yet My kindness shall not be removed from you.”
— 2021 —
In Summer 2020 most of our co-workers at Ethnos360 Bible Institute moved to the consolidated campus in Wisconsin. We on the other hand needed to bring our support level up first, and we needed to do it during the virus-related shutdowns going on at the time! It was an impossible task for us–but not for the Lord! God re-confirmed that this is where He wants us and showed His faithfulness through the gifts of faithful people. Summer 2021 we said good-bye to family and friends in Michigan, and moved to Wisconsin at the start of the school year.
In 2021 our two older children graduated from high school and chose to stay in Michigan with Andrea’s parents. One works in welding-related jobs, and the other enrolled in a nursing degree program. Home is a lot quieter with only two kids in it, and we are learning to keep in touch with adult children long-distance! Another big change was the death of Andrea’s father and two other close relatives. Losing them was hard, but each left a legacy of trusting God’s faithfulness.

Now in 2022, we are excited to be back with the Bible Institute. Ken works in maintenance and wants to be intentional about helping interns learn practical skills they may need overseas. He also enjoys teaching and challenging small groups of students during chapel sessions. Andrea loves being back among student families in the Childcare department and helping with its leadership. Our two younger kids have adjusted well to the move and their new schools.
Lately we have had opportunities to re-connect with coworkers from decades back as they bring their own children to be trained at EBI! We counted twelve such graduates in May. One former student showed up with his wife for graduation. EBI now has an online campus, and she was one of its first graduates! A Korean friend spent a week in our guest room this August; she and her husband have been serving in Asia-Pacific since graduating and were back to enroll their son at EBI.

A cynic once said that nothing is certain except death and taxes. I think it is more helpful to remember that nothing is certain except for change, but God’s unchanging faithfulness is even more certain! Thanks so much to those who PRAY! Please remember our kids as they enter adulthood, and EBI students as they balance work and study. And remember EBI graduates church-planting in remote parts of the world; you can get a weekly email with specifics at https://ethnos360.org/pray .
