A daughter in law

September 12, 2007 by NTM Blog Admin

Have you ever felt that if looks could kill you’d be dead? If not, you’ve at least heard the adage.

Here’s a story about Marisa’s daughter in law that we trust will thrill your hearts:

When Monsing was killed in 1985 for preaching the gospel, he and Marisa had 3 children; Salin, Mimi and Manna (“Unripe Ones – From Fear to Faith” part 8)

After waiting a few years, Marisa remarried a man named Silak.

Soon after, Salin met and married Mitris. By the time their first child was born there was much arguing and fighting between them and Mitris stopped listening to the teaching!

The path through the village goes right by Salin and Mitris’ house. If she was outside whenever we walked by we could almost feel the bitterness and hatred in her look.

When we returned earlier this year from the US, we were walking by their house and the look on Mitris’ face was completely different than when we left last year. We no longer saw bitterness in her face! We saw a very pleasant smile!

Sure enough, Marisa stopped by later on and shared with us how God has answered prayer! She said, “I’ve been praying for Mitris for two years and now God has answered my prayer!”

She shared with us that Silak and Salin were talking one evening about the end times. They were encouraging each other about how important it was to be faithful to teach their children.

They didn’t realize that Mitris was in the corner of their tiny house listening. The things they shared made her realize she needed to start listening to the teaching again!

So now when we walk by their house, we are always greeted with a very pleasant smile. Everyone here is praising the Lord for her changed heart – the bitterness and anger are gone and replaced with joy. The family asks that we pray that Mitris continues to listen to God’s word.

Thank for your part in this ministry in praying for the Higaunon!
