These are gorgeous days here weather-wise.We are enjoying mid to upper 70’s (25-27 Celsius) with light breezes. We are enjoying these days while we have them knowing that the rains will be returning before long. There was some severe flooding recently that caused a lot of damage to a number of farms. People here and downriver said they had never seen a flood like this. A village downriver had some houses destroyed. Praise the Lord know one was hurt.
We feel as if we’ve been on an emotional roller coaster the past few weeks. It was hard saying good-bye to our co-workers, Ron & Michelle Jennings; they left on the 20th of November for an 8 month “home assignment.” That came on the heels of the fantastic celebration the Higaunon church had for the completed New Testaments. What a joy it was to hear many testimonies of how God’s Word has changed their lives.
Please continue to PRAY for the Higaunon church. There is constantly a need for more men to teach. Pray the younger generation will catch a vision as their parents generation did, to get the Gospel message out to other areas.
It’s been a privilege to have completed printing 25 Scripture books for another language group for friends of ours who work on another island. Each book is 745 pages and at the end of the 14th copy, the printer status page showed that we didn’t have enough toner in the cartridge and we didn’t have a replacement cartridge! Praise the Lord, HE intervened and the printing is DONE! The books are being bound by our folks here who have been busy binding their own New Testaments!
During all this, Laura had not been well. We’re not sure what all is going on since her severe yeast infection. We think we’ve conquered that but now she’s not gaining the weight she lost. The past couple of days she has felt much better so we’re praising the Lord for that. It is still our plan to see the doctor in just over a week for another check-up.
In the mean time, Lance is working on the initial translation of Proverbs for the Higaunon. That is proving to be challenging. For example, we discovered in chapter 5 that to compare your wife to a “loving doe” (vs19) is an insult! Please pray for wisdom as we continue with this project.
Thanks for stopping by to read our blog. Thank you for partnering with us through prayer!!
