We wanted to update you during this time that Laura is in the US to let you know how things are going…
Laura reports cold weather, snow, snow and more snow but LOTS of lovin’ on the grandkids. The picture with this update was taken by the webcam just after Laura arrived. She said that Nicole has mentioned over and over just how grateful she is to have her mom there while Justin is away. We’re glad that Laura could be there to be a blessing to her during this time. (She even got out one day and shoveled snow!)
Things have kind of fallen apart for me while she’s been gone. It started out with a computer virus. Any virus I’ve had in the past has been dealt with by the virus program but this one got in and turned my protection OFF and would not let me turn it back on!! I was able to download another program to remove the virus but it had done some damage that I didn’t know how to fix. Praise the Lord for computer experts at NTM’s computer department! Marty Wilson was able to take control of my computer remotely and fix the problem while I slept! What those missionaries on the support end do may not be very “glamorous” but they are a very vital part of the church planting team.
I’ve been able to handle most things while Laura is away – cooking and keeping things kind of clean and straightened up has been going okay but there was the day I had my t-shirt on inside out and I didn’t even notice until half way through the day. Another day I completely lost track of time. Then there’s our two cats, they keep giving me this “What did you do to her?” look. They can’t complain too much as they’ve been getting fed, they just don’t have the amount of attention they usually get when Laura’s here.
Praise God I have been able to get a lot done during this time. I have another couple of days and I’ll be done with my portion of the work on Psalms translation. This will save Ron many hours of work!
Please pray for the following.
1. The weather this week – We’re doing some roof repair on the house this week. (You can see pictures of the work here.) Please pray with us that the weather will cooperate. It’s rainy season and we’ve had over 12” of rain since we left to take Laura to the airport.
2. Laura leaves the US early morning on the 21st and arrives late night in Manila on the 22nd. Please pray for all the connections to go smoothly including her trip to Mindanao.
3. For me as I finish Psalms translation and then continue with Proverbs.
4. For Jennings as they finish up the repair work they’ve been doing on their house.
5. For the Higaunon church as they continue to minister to one another and reach out to other villages with the Gospel message.
Thank you for your part in this ministry amongst the Higaunon.
Secure in Christ’s name,
Lance & Laura
