Reporting from two sides of the world REVISITED!

February 26, 2011 by Lance and Laura Ostman

nana & kids

Please pray for Laura.

She was scheduled to return home to the Philippines earlier this week. However, last week she came down with the flu and developed pneumonia. Consequently, she had to cancel her return flight. She saw the doctor at the urgent care clinic twice and after two prescriptions, one for flu and one for pneumonia, she is finally improving, albeit slowly. Because she was traveling alone, I thought it best to get her trip insurance. Praise the Lord with us for that! Please pray she gets well so she can return home! In the mean time, she is enjoying the grandkids and Nicole isn’t disappointed to have her mom there a bit longer! 🙂

Oh, and for those interested, the cats heard her voice the other day coming over the computer. This completely confused them but at least they know she’s somewhere – they’re just not sure where. The older one immediately started staring expectantly at the cat entry hole; I can’t imagine what was going through his mind!

Other things…

Praise the Lord that I am finished with my part in translating Psalms – it was a huge job and I’m so thankful to all those who prayed for me while working on it. This past week I’ve been editing MP3 files of the evangelism phase of the teaching. I captured these from the old cassettes that are played on the hand-wind tape players and will put them on the Saber players (hand-wind MP3 players.) In case you’re wondering, these players are not a substitute for teachers, they are used to review what they’ve heard from the teachers.

Next week I’ll start back into Proverbs translation. I’ve been doing the initial draft work and currently working on chapter 17. The parallelisms in this book fit right in with the Higaunon language but some of the concepts are quite challenging. Please pray for wisdom in how to translate.

One more thing… a group from the village went to one of the outreach villages earlier this week to visit the believers. While they were there they had opportunity to challenge some of the non-believers to listen to the teaching. Please pray for the chief of that village as he has voiced an interest to start listening. Please pray that he would follow through!

That’s all for now. Again thank you, each one of you, for your prayers and support of this ministry. I’m sure you would all agree that we are living in exciting days! We are looking for the soon return of Christ for his bride. It is great being involved in HIS Work while we wait!

Secure in Christ’s love,

Lance & Laura
