To everything there is a season, a time for every purpose under heaven:
Ecclesiastes 3:1 (NKJV)
Results:
In our last update, we asked for prayers for our health. One of the first things we did when we arrived in town last week for our break was go to the lab at the hospital to get Lance’s PSA test. The results were ready that afternoon. My number went from 5.7 earlier this year to 3.06! Praise the Lord with us and thank you for praying!
Laura didn’t see a doctor during our break since it’s difficult to get to the bottom of her issues in just a week. She has started a gluten-free diet and is limiting her sugar intake. This seems to be helping. We know this because whenever she doesn’t follow the diet, she regrets it.
Hope:
Also, in our last update, we wrote about the hope that we have because of the resurrection. Easter morning at 4 o’clock, Yaga passed away from kidney failure. She was the wife of one of the church pastors. Please pray for Sansuwà and his family as they grieve. We spoke about how these people used to respond to death. It was horrible! Their lives are so different today because of what Christ has done for them. Praise the Lord, indeed, for the HOPE we have.
Back to work:
We arrived back in the village Monday morning. Ron gave me some last-minute instructions in case we have any issues with the electrical system, and then we said our goodbyes. We hope to see them again before we leave the country. They are on their way to Australia for the wedding of one of their grandsons.
Over the next few days, I’ll have two translation assistants with me, Liyu and Sansuwà. Liyu is a very good reader. He’ll be reading Ecclesiastes and Jeremiah out loud to me and Sansuwà. We’ll be listening for anything that needs changing. And it will also help Sansuwà keep his mind busy.
Thank you:
Once again, we are so thankful for each of you who partner with us so we can do what we do. What a privilege it is that God has given to us, to be here and work with the Higaunon to get His Word translated into their language.
Secure in Christ’s love,
Lance & Laura
